An enhanced speaker—roughly 50% louder than the prior generation, with a new chime—makes hidden tags easier to hear. You can share item location for a limited time with trusted contacts, third parties, or airline partners if luggage or valuables go missing.
Privacy and setup
Only you or people you authorize see an AirTag’s location; location data and history are not stored on the tag itself. Pairing is a one-tap process from iPhone or iPad.
Hardware and power
Each tag uses a stainless steel body rated IP67 against water and dust. A standard user-replaceable coin-cell battery typically lasts more than a year; your iPhone notifies you when it is time to swap. The enclosure incorporates 85% recycled plastic; packaging is 100% fiber-based.
Compatibility notes
Find My requires iOS 14, iPadOS, or macOS Catalina or later and sign-in to iCloud with your Apple Account. Feature availability varies by country or region. Improved Precision Finding applies when AirTag (2nd generation) is paired with iPhone Air or iPhone 15 or later (excluding iPhone 16e). Precision Finding on Apple Watch needs Apple Watch Series 9 or later, or Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, running watchOS 26.2.1.
