Two-node Wi-Fi 6 mesh kit
Xiaomi Mesh System AX3000 ships as a factory-paired 2-Pack that builds an 802.11ax mesh for awkward floor plans. Clients can roam between nodes without manual network switching, with a published coverage target of up to 4,000 square feet.
When nodes fail or you move
If a mesh node stops working, the system can reorganize paths so remaining units keep the mesh running. Internet for the whole home still drops if the primary node wired to the ISP fails—that ISP-facing unit is outside the self-repair scenario described for other nodes.
Out of the box pairing
Only the two AX3000 units in this kit arrive pre-linked at the factory; other Xiaomi mesh routers are not all sold with that pairing. Setup is aimed at users who want Wi-Fi 6 without advanced networking steps.
Throughput and radio features
Concurrent 2.4GHz and 5GHz 802.11ax links reach a combined theoretical rate up to 2,976Mbps (576Mbps on 2.4GHz plus 2,402Mbps on 5GHz). On 5GHz, 160MHz channels and 1024 QAM can raise throughput versus Wi-Fi 5’s 256 QAM when phones, laptops, and tablets support matching capabilities. OFDMA lets the router schedule traffic from many clients at once, which can ease congestion and latency in busy homes. MU-MIMO shares the same client-side requirement.
Device load and power
256MB RAM on each unit helps maintain responsiveness when dozens of gadgets are online; up to 254 total connections across 2.4G, 5G, and LAN is quoted under lab testing. Target Wake Time can lower average Wi-Fi power draw when endpoint hardware supports TWT.
Apps, housing, and cooling
Adjust settings through Xiaomi Home / Mi Home, Web, Android, or iOS. The enclosure is a compact black block with hidden dual-band antennas, tower-style airflow, wide channels, and a large metal heatsink for steady thermal performance.

Firmware and operating limits
MiWiFi ROM (OpenWRT-based) includes WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, WPA3-SAE, wireless allow/deny lists, and hidden SSID options. Modulation spans 11b through 11ax including 1024 QAM on ax with MCS0–MCS11 for two streams. Run the hardware at 0–40°C and 10–90% RH non-condensing; store from −40–70°C at 5–90% RH non-condensing.
Important limitations
- Photos may not match the retail enclosure.
- Real-world speed and range depend on walls, interference, and ISP service; coverage figures come from Xiaomi internal lab tests.
- 802.11ax, 160MHz, OFDMA, MU-MIMO, and 1024 QAM need compatible clients.
- A single-unit Xiaomi Mesh System AX3000 (1-Pack) is sold separately for smaller spaces.
