Description
External USB-C housing for NVMe and SATA M.2 drives
The UGREEN 55150 lets you run an internal M.2 SSD as portable storage over USB-C. A USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 link reaches up to 20Gbps when the host port and cable path support that mode—handy for large 4K clips, high-resolution stills, and bulky project folders.
Which drives fit
- M.2 NVMe PCIe and M.2 SATA (NGFF)
- Lengths 2230, 2242, 2260, and 2280
- Capacities to 8TB
- m-SATA not supported; drive sold separately
Throughput expectations
Peak 20Gbps needs a host that implements USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 (20Gbps). Routes such as Thunderbolt 4 may cap around 10Gbps. Verify port capability before expecting full speed.
Thermals, protocol, and controller
Aluminum alloy body sheds heat; a supplied thermal pad improves contact with the module. UASP and TRIM support can streamline transfers and lighten CPU load on supported systems. An RTL9220 chipset adds short-circuit and over-current protection.
Assembly and hosts
Tool-free access: seat the SSD and fix it with one screw. Plug and play on typical setups—no separate power brick or extra drivers. Metal shell adds some impact resistance in a bag.
Hosts include Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and other USB-C gear where the OS exposes mass storage.
